Monkey Records
Founded in 2000 by musician and producer Nigel Braddock, Monkey Records champions innovative artists from New Zealand and beyond. With around 40 albums released, the label has earned acclaim as one of New Zealand's most forward-thinking imprints—once hailed by Metro magazine as "possibly the most exploratory label in New Zealand right now."
Genres and Evolution
Originally focused on ambient and downbeat sounds, Monkey Records has expanded into genre-defying territory, embracing indie-pop, world music, fusion, psychedelic, and acoustic/folk recordings.
Achievements and Ventures
- Spawned sister companies Key Management, which has booked and promoted over 350 gigs for Monkey artists in New Zealand and Europe.
- Launched Monkey Publishing, securing licensing deals for its catalog across the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Global Reach
Based in New Zealand with a new office in Berlin, Germany, the label now welcomes international talent to its roster.
